For those who sleep through the night...
You are missing out!!
So, Tim usually calls me on his lunch break and our conversations have changed a bit now that we have a baby. The bulk of what we talk about would be labeled "What Happened Last Night". We never knew just how exciting nighttime could be, since we were faithful "sleep-through-the-nighters" (except for an occassional midnight pee - sometimes in our sleep). Now we share stories of Peter's midnight appetite, blowout diapers that got left on the floor, how somebody left the fridge door open (hmmm), or how swinging/swaddling/singing/shhing etc. just wouldn't put Peter to sleep. Today, for example, our phone conversation included the story of how Tim forgot to turn off the sprinkler before bed! If Peter hadn't woke up for an unusual 11:00pm feeding (growth spurt - uggh) the lawn may have turned into another color (what is more wet than green???)! It took me a couple tries to wake Tim up enough to realize what I was asking him to do - "can you please turn the sprinkler off hunny?? I don't know how to work the automatic thingy..." The funny thing is - Tim said he didn't remember any of this!! A sign of obvious sleep-deprivation. But it's the price we pay for nighttime excitment!!
