Life With An Infant
Peter Eugene is nearly a month old already (hard to believe!) and he's been treating his parents right! I know I mustn't speak too soon, but so far parenthood hasn't been seriously mind-altering or driven us near insanity yet! For the first couple of weeks, Peter was up every 3 hours or so to eat (even at night). There was one night he was up every two hours - that was rough. But he's been steadily sleeping longer and longer - up to 5 or 6 hours straight now (at night)! That makes Mommy and Daddy very happy, especially since Daddy had to go back to work this week.
We had so much fun together during those first three weeks - hiking, sleeping outside, going swimming at the river (Peter didn't really want to get wet - we'll give him a couple more months), singing songs, visiting friends, playing games ("zoom around the room" and "let's punch daddy"), and travelling in the car. It gave Daddy the chance to bond with his son and helped Mommy recover to the point of taking care of things during the day and feeling capable of getting out and about with Peter (those strollers have minds of their own sometimes).
Yes, there have been messes - Mommy has been peed on, Peter has laid record sized poopies, and milk gets spit up regularly (I'm sure our furniture/clothes/house will smell funny for years), but it's so nice to have someone to love and take care of. And, I'm getting pretty good at typing with one hand...
