Sleepy Beauty

I know, she was sleeping not sleepy, but I'm dealing with a toddler who sounds like a broken record {"but I'm not tired" "but I'm not tired" "but I'm not tired"} and thought Sleepy Beauty sounded appropriate.

I GOT TO GO OUT WITH A GIRLFRIEND SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

Yep, it was exciting.

We went to see the Eugene Ballet Company and the Walla Walla Symphony in their show, Sleeping Beauty.

My first thought was --

"Those guys VOLUNTEERED to wear those leotards?"

But really, the talent was incredible. The muscles....the form....the choreography. Wow. I have heard the music by Tchaikovsky more than once, but this was my first exposure to the ballet. Wow.

I admit there were a few sleepy moments (more than a few for the poor man behind me who slept through most of it), but generally the story-line and engaging dance moves kept me alert. It was long -- near two and a half hours.

How did it rate on my "Mom LOVES" scale??

Almost a six out of ten. 5.75 I might include ballet on an annual basis, whereas I like to add musical concerts into my schedule at least monthly. Not super high on my list. But a fabulous reason to get out and do something with a friend. Who, by the way, made it supremely more fun.

You have to have someone to whisper to and share favorites with.

This is a very lucky week -- another musical event tonight!! A Celtic celebration with fiddle, bagpipes, mandolin, guitar....oh yeah.
