Beach Vacation in June

A weekend away. Something I've been really looking forward to. And my husband was so helpful. Something I've been needing to see.

I now have renewed confidence in his parenting abilities. His creativity with tired, bored children in the car and his patience with sunburned mommy have put him in high esteem. He earned many points this weekend.

We managed to pack a lot into the weekend. Lunch at Sweet Tomatoes (mmmm...), afternoon at the airplane museum (which included a 3D IMAX movie), early morning tide pooling, visiting a very fun Sabbath School (kudos to Lincoln City children's divisions!), playing in the sand and watching the kites at the Lincoln City kite festival, kayaking for daddy, teaching Peter Wii bowling, morning at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, lunch at Spaghetti Factory...did I miss anything??

It was fabulous. Lots of experiences for the kidlets. Lots of fun for the parents.

Minus the speedy (how fast can you run in sand?) trip across half the beach to the toilet carrying a heavy three-year-old. Minus the very long car ride home (how is it that the ride home always takes twice as long as the ride TO somewhere?)

We found the sippy cup full of milk that was left in a public restroom for a couple hours.

Peter found the elevators to be the most exciting thing at the space museum. And the "tunnels" to be the most fun at the aquarium. ;)

Peter slept for 14 hours Saturday night -- from 4pm to 6am. Consequently, we skipped the planned picnic/hike for that evening and rested. Probably a good idea after the busy day.

Ezra was such a trooper, sleeping in the car when he could, pushing through skipped nap-times when he had to. He loved chasing Julie's dog, Tovah. I think there was more love flowing from baby to dog than the other direction...

We are tired. We will sleep. We may do it again someday.
