My Potty Training Story, Rated PG

Hi. My name is Peter and I don't wear diapers anymore.

It all started a long time ago when Mommy bought me a potty chair and some books about using the potty. I liked reading the books and checking out the potty, I even peed in it once or twice. But I really didn't like making messes and fortunately Mommy let me wear diapers still. I just wasn't ready.

On Daddy's birthday, Mommy and I had a little chat. We talked about how I am three years old now and I can wear big boy underwear. We looked at the new toilet seat on the big potty and I tried it out. It felt a lot better than the potty chair. Mommy said that we should give potty training another try. She said "it's TIME" and sounded pretty serious about it all.

I was still nervous because I didn't know if I could make it to the toilet in time. But I did!! The first time I started peeing just a little bit on the floor, but I stopped it and RAN to the toilet! The next time I ran even faster and didn't make a mess at all.

Once I knew I could do it, it was more fun. And I got gummy treats and a star sticker every time I used the toilet. Then Mommy asked if I could stay dry during my nap. She put a towel under me and made sure I emptied my bladder before going to sleep. Once I didn't stay dry, but for the last seven days, I have!! I can go to the grocery store and pee in the public restroom if I need to. I can do everything I want to without wearing a diaper!

Here I am with my sticker chart -- every time I get 10 stars, Mommy takes me to the store to pick out a little toy. I got a Hot Wheels dune buggy the first time and a helicopter the second.

Mommy can't believe I got things figured out so fast. She is really proud of me.

Now I need to learn to say "I need to go pee" instead of the {whiny little potty dance}.
