Peach Oatmeal Bread and Something Else

I would really like to write a song about peaches. It seems like the world needs another good one to add to the classics about tomatoes and gardening...and show "millions of peaches, peaches for me" what's up.

Kitchen smells sweet
My lips snap the beat
I'm looking for something to eat

On the counter I sit
Waiting to be bit
Before the fruit flies hit

Ok ok...I'll stop. ;) But you might want to look again -- two great recipes follow.
Right here in this post.
Peach Oatmeal Bread
inspired by Blue Bonnets and Brownies and by Honey and Jam

1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup quick oats
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cups applesauce
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups fresh peaches, diced {about 3 large peaches}
3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour one 9 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients. Mix together the sugars, oil, applesauce and vanilla separately. Mix the wet and the dry ingredients together, then stir in the peaches and nuts. Pour batter into prepared pans.
Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Your family will love it! :)
And here's the bonus recipe -- as promised. =)
If you still have peaches to use up -- you won't want to miss this fabulous crisp.
I followed the recipe as written, so you can go visit The Fresh Fridge for the goods. I love the topping -- it's spicy. :)
