What I Learned in May | 2016

Tomorrow is my last day of work. We have officially arrived in that glorious season called summer.

I'm beyond excited. I'm so happy. We're going to have so much fun.
Follow me on Instagram to keep up with our summer adventures.
It's been a growing stage for me these last five months since moving. I feel like I've learned so much.
Here are just a few of the fun things I've learned recently.

Summer
Is my favorite season.

Honeysuckle
Is my favorite smell.

Jumping into Water
Jumping off cliffs into cold water is my super duper favorite thing to do in the summer. Bridges work too!

Reading Aloud
I love reading to my kids. We didn't have time to do that during the school year, but now that it's summer -- BOOM. We're reading Masterpiece right now and plan to read Homer Price next.

My Risk to Reward Ratio
My husband took me rafting on Sunday. It was VERY exciting. I enjoyed 85% of it, but there were several times where my this-is-so-exciting adrenaline rush turned into a someone-might-die adrenaline rush and it felt dangerous. I hesitate to even use that word because I'm really pretty sure everything was under control, but I wasn't completely convinced. We hit those rapids hard and went down into those troughs deep. I certainly wasn't paddling when told to DIG, sorry. I was most definitely holding on for dear life. Moral = adventures are more fun when I'm sure I'll survive.

Things Work Out
I've spent a lot of time worrying about my employment next year. As it turns out, worrying wasn't necessary or helpful. I'm so thankful to be staying put, hired on for another year, this time with a continuing contract. I am excited to develop my music teaching skills and start in the fall with a whole new batch of Kindergarten students!! The schedule couldn't be better. I'm so so blessed.

Bring the GoPro
I need to take a video camera with me everywhere if I'm going to make a summer movie of our adventures!!

Losing Seven Pounds in Three Days
I found the silver lining to food poisoning, but it's taken me quite a few days to get my strength back! I am pretty sure I can keep at least four of those pounds from coming back! Another lesson = next time, give yourself a few more recovery days before going kayak camping.
