Truth to Us | Weekending

I haven't ever loved listening to or reading the news, but this year's election campaign has captured my attention, as has the refugee crisis around the world. We are living in this post-truth age where WHO KNOWS if the media or the article on Facebook is reporting truthfully. Fake photos, misconstrued events, twisted, attention-getting stories...

WHAT IS TRUE??

“The point of modern propaganda isn’t only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.” Garry Kasparov

So I do my best to avoid news sources that are sensationalizing the material. And I look for primary sources of information as often as possible [like friends who are in Greece telling stories they see first-hand]. I discuss things with my husband to get another perspective. And I take regular breaks from news and propaganda to avoid getting exhausted.

Breaks to walk to get the mail...breaks to read a book...breaks to build a wall out of snow...or just to lay on my back and stare at the clouds...

Truth to us happens when friends get together to laugh and sing and play. Truth is time in the snowy woods. Truth is giving blood at a Red Cross drive. Truth is based on love.
