Cape Lookout State Park | Tillamook, OR
We drove coast-ward from Portland for an overnight, looking for a bit of beach time with a warm place to sleep. The yurts at Cape Lookout State Park were exactly what we needed. The beach is super close-by, the yurts are heated and they provide such glorious shelter from the rain {which we especially needed after that other very wet camping experience}.
It was a gray day, with a spatter of rain, but the boys managed to have fun {they are so good at it!}. They even stripped down to their underwear and jumped waves!

Trip Details:
Cape Lookout State Park, not far from Tillamook, OR, was definitely convenient and really beautiful. The photo above was taken the morning we left -- it got sunny!! The beach here is really fabulous...sandy and gradual. I wish I had a photo of the yurts to show you -- they sleep five people comfortably {bring your own bedding}. Some are pet friendly, most are wheelchair accessible. Very inexpensive lodging {cheaper than some CA campsites!}, especially if you'd like to stay dry on a rainy night. Reserve in advance, since the yurts sell out pretty quickly, especially on weekends.
