The Quiet Zone

I had an unpleasant experience at the library yesterday. Maybe it was the unforgiving stares directed towards my noisy toddler. Maybe it was the librarian who forgot to tell me I couldn't check out books on my first visit. Maybe it was the temper tantrum Peter threw because I wouldn't let him pull all the books off the shelves.

Needless to say, we didn't stay long. I took him outside to run off his wiggles and then took him back in secured tightly in his stroller. This was all before I collected an armful of good books which didn't come home with us. What a disappointing trip.

Do I really want to fill out an application in triplicate, pay $30 for living out of the county, and wait for a couple weeks for my card to arrive in the mail before I'll be allowed to check out my maximum allottment -- 2 books the first visit!

I think the real challenge is my little boy who has no clue what "quiet" means -- how do you teach that??
