He smiles.

Even though he may have to skip school to take the goats very far to find greenery to graze.

Even though he may only get one meal each day. On a good day.

Even though he is thirsty.

Even though his feet are calloused from walking on thorn bushes.

Even though he may have lost a sibling to starvation or disease.

Even though his eyes hurt from all the dust in the air.

He finds reason to smile.
