right now
the weather has been fabulous lately, just fabulous. i'm afraid we are taking it for granted...soon it'll be too cold to go exploring in just a sweater. but at least once a day someone says "isn't this sunshine nice?" or "wow, what a gorgeous day".
right now i am basking in the orderliness that is our bedroom, re-organized and de-cluttered. #abouttime the windows are open to let in the chill {i sleep so much better with my head out in the cold} and the house is really quiet.
tonight we ate salad, which is also about time because i keep saying we will and pete keeps saying he'd rather eat his spinach that way {than in a smoothie #crazykid} and well.... no lies, i just don't really eat salad unless someone else makes it. i love the salad at spaghetti factory with their creamy pesto dressing. yum. also at sweet tomatoes, which is what i attempted to produce here at home tonight. iceberg lettuce, spinach, purple cabbage, garbanzo beans, grated carrot, olives, peas, spiral pasta, parmesan, and buttermilk ranch dressing. not so bad! #proudofmyself
my favorite song lately is "true" by sacred june. i think they are pretty new cause they only have one cd out. you can listen to samples of their songs here, on their website. i really dig the mandolin. my husband thinks i need one. #maybehesright
i made a pumpkin pie for canadian thanksgiving, last week. and of course there was a bit of pumpkin left in the can so i had to make another. but i didn't have quite enough so i went and bought another can of pumpkin. now there's more pumpkin waiting in the fridge about to become pie #3. #nobodycomplains the good news is -- the recipe is really really easy and i'm going to tell you all about it sometime this week. the crust is press-in, so no crazy rolling out and tearing and other annoyances. the crust is flaky, the filling is spicy. it's super delicious.
i've been reading emily's book "a million little ways" -- it's good, of course. i knew it would be. want to hear a bit of it?
and if you follow me on pinterest, you've seen this chai and these cider floats and maybe your mouth is watering too. i have yet to try either one because i've been too busy eating salad [hah!] but seriously. the time is coming.
one last thing worthy of mention -- if you have little kiddos ages 3-5 they will LOVE these games we just found. maybe this is old news, but if not, check out pbskids and curious george. buzz has been enjoying.
so, that's a bit of what's going on with us here and now. you can look forward to a recipe coming down the shoot soon. in the meantime, enjoy some fresh air if you can. #overandout

"I don't believe there is one great thing I was made to do in this world. I believe there is one great God I was made to glorify. And there will be many ways, even a million little ways, I will declare his glory with my life." --Emily Freemanother inspiration this month has come from ellen at her blog -- she's been writing about hope.
I don't get to be the hero. In fact, my whole purpose is to be a shiny, sparkly, sometimes weary and tarnished blinking arrow pointing toward the real Hero. --Ellen Parker
